Exploring the Future of Sound, Space & Stage

We came together in Riga on October 9 to explore the future of sound, space, and stage — and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this possible.

Thank you to all our attendees — sound designers, architects, engineers, and students — for your curiosity, questions, and energy throughout the day.

Special thanks to our speakers and partners:
  • Pierre Möllerstedt and Julien Laval, L-Acoustics (France)
  • Olivers Tarvids, Akukon Būvakustika
  • Jānis Tučs, Cadrok

Organized by VGD Project and Rock Distribution, with support from the Latvian Association of Architects.

We truly hope the event sparked new insights, professional connections, and ideas for the future.

What We Explored

The conference was structured as a journey — from acoustic design philosophy to real-world system integration. Key topics included:
The program concluded with a roundtable discussion and Q&A with all speakers, encouraging open dialogue between professionals across disciplines.

Ambiance & L-ISA Live Demonstration

A special highlight of the day was the live demo of L-Acoustics Ambiance and L-ISA systems, where guests experienced how immersive and adaptive audio can transform perception, flexibility, and emotional connection in public spaces.

We showcased the Ambiance active acoustic system from L-Acoustics — a solution that enhances and refines the natural acoustics of a venue while enabling the creation of virtual acoustic environments for various applications and performance genres.

The Ambiance setup combined strategically distributed loudspeakers and microphones with dedicated signal-processing algorithms and real-time system control.
The venue featured 30 L-Acoustics X8 loudspeakers — 20 overhead and 10 surround — powered by LA7.16 amplified controllers and managed by an L-ISA Processor II running the Ambiance license.

Acoustic response was captured by Schoeps MK21 microphones, routed through four L-Acoustics P1 processors, with an additional P1 dedicated to system tuning and calibration.

To complement the demonstration, Ambiance was paired with an L-ISA system comprising seven Syva + Syva Low stacks and two KS21 subwoofers. Both systems were integrated into a single ecosystem, seamlessly working together to deliver an authentic and emotionally engaging experience.

Guests noted the natural transparency and realism of Ambiance before immersing themselves fully in the L-ISA spatial audio environment.

Looking Ahead

We believe in building a professional community where knowledge and experience are shared openly — and this event was another step toward that goal.
The intersection of architecture, acoustics, and immersive technologies continues to open new creative and technical frontiers, and we are excited to explore them together.
