L-Acoustics L2D for a Historic Venue in Lithuania

1
Raudondvaris Manor Arts Incubator, located in Kaunas District, Lithuania, has completed a major upgrade of its exhibition hall as part of the 2025–2026 project “Modernisation of the Equipment of the Raudondvaris Manor Arts Incubator”. The project was initiated to modernise the venue’s sound and video infrastructure and adapt the hall for conferences, concerts and other cultural activities.

The Arts Incubator is part of the historic Raudondvaris Manor complex and operates as a multi-purpose cultural venue. The hall hosts live performances, conferences, exhibitions, creative programmes and public events, requiring a sound system capable of supporting both speech-led formats and full-range music applications.
As part of the modernisation, the hall was upgraded with acoustic ceiling panels and acoustic wall treatment to improve the acoustic behaviour of the space. Stationary sound, video, lighting and LED screen systems were also installed, creating an integrated technical environment for modern event production.

The new sound infrastructure is built around an L-Acoustics L Series / L2D system, supported by KS28 subwoofers and powered by L-Acoustics amplified controllers. This configuration provides the venue with a professional installed sound reinforcement system combining controlled coverage, high output capability, extended low-frequency performance and system-wide consistency.

Project Partner

The installation was carried out by STS, a Lithuanian company specialising in professional audio-visual integration, system design and venue technology projects. VGD Project, the official L-Acoustics distributor in the region, supported the project with equipment supply and technical coordination, helping ensure that the system met the required performance, integration and compliance standards.

With extensive experience in cultural and performance venues, STS provided system integration, tuning and calibration to achieve precise coverage, reliable operation and a seamless fit with the hall’s technical and architectural requirements.

Why L Series was the right choice for the hall

The exhibition hall combines historic architecture with modern event requirements. Its long rectangular layout, high ceiling, reflective surfaces and stage position require a system that can deliver even coverage and intelligibility without over-energising the room.

The L-Acoustics L Series is particularly well suited to this type of space because it brings the directivity control of a line source system into a compact format. In this hall, that means acoustic energy can be focused more accurately on the audience area, helping reduce unwanted reflections and maintain clarity from the front rows to the rear of the room.

The L2D system also provides the output and throw needed for concerts and cultural performances, while remaining controlled enough for speech-driven events such as conferences, presentations and official programmes. This balance is important for a multi-purpose venue where the same system must handle spoken word, playback, live music and event sound reinforcement.

The addition of KS28 subwoofers extends the system’s low-frequency capability, giving the hall the necessary impact and headroom for music events, while L-Acoustics amplified controllers ensure optimised system drive, protection, processing and operational reliability.

Project objectives

The main audio objectives were to improve the overall sound quality of the hall, provide stable system performance for different event formats and create better conditions for artists, organisers and visitors.

The system needed to deliver clear speech reproduction, consistent tonal balance, controlled low-frequency energy and enough dynamic range for live performance formats. Just as importantly, the venue required a stationary solution that would be reliable, rider-friendly and ready for regular event use without depending on temporary sound reinforcement for every production.

Result

The modernised hall now offers a higher technical standard for concerts, conferences, exhibitions and cultural activities. The combination of acoustic treatment, installed L-Acoustics sound reinforcement, lighting, video infrastructure and LED screen technology gives Raudondvaris Manor Arts Incubator a more flexible and production-ready environment.

With the L-Acoustics L Series / L2D system, KS28 subwoofers and L-Acoustics amplified controllers, the venue now has a scalable, high-performance audio platform capable of supporting both everyday cultural programming and more demanding live event productions.

The upgrade enables Raudondvaris Manor Arts Incubator to make fuller use of its cultural and artistic potential, improve the quality of its services and provide a better experience for audiences, artists and event organisers.
